John is presently on leave attending the graduate Musical Theatre writing program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Aside from training at Vidal Sassoon in London, John Carden has had a signficant career in music.
From the beginning of his brilliant career, John Carden has been associated with the world’s most prominent opera companies, orchestras, and conductors. His special musical qualities have been recognized by an array of distinguished early and modern conductors with whom he has appeared in concert and on record, including Jeanette Sorrell, Dennis Keene, Trevor Pinnock, Lucas Fiske, and Peter Tiboris, who introduced the young countertenor at Carnegie Hall, New York, in Handel s Messiah. His shimmering voice in connection with his dead-on musical and dramatic instincts have earned him critical acclaim and have kept him in demand on both continents. He has been a guest artist with the orchestras of New York, Amsterdam, Cleveland, Utrecht, and Geneva.
His busy schedule has taken him to many festivals as well as opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, Skylight Opera Theatre, Pennsylvania Opera,Opera Vivente and The New Lyric Theatre. In 2006 Mr. Carden took a hiatus from opera and turned his interest towards American Standard Jazz, releasing his first CD of popular songs, Journey on Tuesday, and composing the jazz musical/comedy Fabulous Flavio which premiered in 2009.
